Exhibited

London, Zwemmer Gallery, possibly exhibited in Objective Abstractions, March 1934 (as Autumn Woodland and Woodstack).

Condition

Original canvas. The canvas is slightly taut and undulates very slightly in places but otherwise appears sound. There is a stretcher bar mark towards the centre of the lower horizontal edge. There is an Artist's pin head to the left vertical edge, as well as a pinhole lower down. There are some isolated areas of fine craquelure, one or two of which have tiny specks of associated loss. There are some minor light abrasions to the extreme edges, probably in line with the previous framing. Subject to the above the work is in very good overall condition. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals a small area of retouching to the extreme upper right corner, a further small area to the extreme lower vertical edge, as well as one or two tiny specks elsewhere. The work is presented unframed. Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
