Literature
Simon Watney, The Art of Duncan Grant, John Murray, London, 1990, illustrated fig.52.
Condition
Not examined out of the frame. Original canvas. The canvas appears sound. There are some very fine, scattered lines of craquelure in places, including running horizontally across the centre of the work, and along the lower horizontal edge, in line with the stretcher bars beneath. There are a couple of flecks of loss to the brown pigment towards the left side of the tablecloth. Subject to the above, the work appears to be in good overall condition.
Ultraviolet light reveals scattered flecks of retouching across the work, which have been sensitively executed.
The work is presented in a simple gilt wooden frame, held under glass.
