Condition
Colour:
The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate although the overall tonality is more saturated in the original, notably the greens. Please refer to the online catalogue for a more accurate image.
Condition:
This work is in very good and original condition. There is evidence of light wear to the upper right corner tip. There is canvas draw to the upper two corner tips, which is visible in the catalogue illustration. There are handling marks and small losses to the frame in isolated places. Close inspection reveals one minute speck of loss in the lower right quadrant towards the centre of the composition, and one towards the upper right corner. Visible only when examined upon extremely close inspection, there are some very thin and unobtrusive drying cracks to the upper right corner and in a few isolated places. No restoration is apparent when examined under ultraviolet light.

Catalogue Note
‘‘In painting you have to be on the lookout: what windfall is still left for you to paint. Justice hasn't been done to the egg, justice hasn’t been done to the fried egg, Warhol's already had the banana. So you take a form, it's always about sharp edges, a square, this and this format, the golden section. An egg is white and flat, how can that turn into a coloured picture? If you turn it around this way and that, you’ll come up with something. Maybe even social politics, or jokes; whatever the case it’s a beautiful form.’’
