Condition

Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate although the overall tonality is slightly brighter in the original. The catalogue illustration also fails to convey the rich texture of the paint visible in the original. Condition: This work is in very good condition. Extremely close inspection reveals a few thin, stable and unobtrusive tension cracks in isolated places to the extreme outer edges, and a few short, hairline cracks isolated in a few other places elsewhere, notably in the red pigment towards the upper centre of the composition. Further extremely close inspection reveals a few tiny specks of loss to some of the impasto peaks. There is evidence of light wear to the corner tips. No restoration is apparent when examined under ultraviolet light.
