Condition
Oil on canvas with an old lining. Some minor pulling and rippling evident in the upper corners. The surface has a widely spaced web of craquelure and some areas of alligatoring in the darks at upper right and left and in the darks of the seat. Areas of shiny varnish scattered over the work. Abrasions at the extreme edges and a spot of loss in the lower right corner. Under UV light, there is a green fluorescing varnish that obscures the majority of the work. There is some evidence of older inpaint around the sitter's hairline and in the darks of the ermine on her coat.
