Condition

Oil on canvas with a wax lining. The surface is in generally good condition with a flattened, stable web of craquelure. Under UV light, there are a few small spots of inpainting scattered in the background; a dot of inpaint under the sitterÂ’s left nostril; and an area of retouched craquelure to the left of his face in the background. The varnish does fluoresces green but is difficult to read under UV light.
