Oil on canvas with a very old, thin lining. The canvas is relatively relaxed on the stretcher. Minor bumping at the corners. A small loss with associated flaking in the angel's neck, as well as in the cheek. Some craquelure with associated minor puckering and some minor losses along the bottom edge and in the top right corner. The impasto has been slightly flattened. A fine web of craquelure over the entire surface. Under UV light, there is a green fluorescing varnish over the majority of the work. There are scattered dots of inpaint in the angel's wings and larger spots of inpaint in the arm of her dress and in the bodice. Older, lighter fluorescing inpaint visible in the upper right corner. Areas of inpaint in the angels cheek, nostrils, neck, nose, below her chin and in her collarbone.

The present composition is a variant of Reni's Angel of the Anunciation (Landesmuseum, Zurich).
