Provenance
With The Curzon Gallery, Boca Raton, according to a label on the reverse.
Condition
Oil on canvas with an old lining. The canvas has relaxed on the stretcher. There are two patches in the upper right corner, near to the edges, that correspond to areas of inpaint visible to the naked eye. The work is somewhat flattened and the pigments are slightly thinned in areas, but the surface appears to be in generally good conditions aside from surface dirt. Under UV light, the sky and trees have been selectively cleaned; the rest of the canvas is obscured by a dark-fluorescing varnish. There is strengthening to the exterior leaves of the trees and their tree branches. There is additional retouching along the horizon line, in the town at right and in the sky.
