Description

  • Thirteen-light castle candelabrum
  • wrought iron
  • Netherlandish, 16th/ 17th century
with rings for the suspension of a banner

Condition

Overall the condition of the candelabrum is good with dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age and in consideration of its working function. The surface appears to be covered in a coating of black paint. There is mild oxidation to the surface throughout, consistent with the material. There may be a loss to the lower projecting strap with curled terminal. The upper projecting strap is a little loose. In a few instances there are small pieces of iron which project outwards without function, though these do not appear to be due to losses.
