Condition

This large canvas is still stretched on its original stretcher. There is a small unevenness to the canvas in the upper center near the top edge. The painting has probably never been interfered with or restored. The soft gloss seems to be original. There is a visible layer of dust over much of the surface, a scuff to the paint layer in the center left, and some small milky drips in the lower left. A small amount of maintenance would present the work nicely. (This condition report has been provided courtesy of Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc.)
In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Catalogue Note

"In the spiritual formation of a painter like myself, there is the craziest, most outrageous dream in which I can image a painting I am not capable of producing. That is why I have always said that the painting is the assassination of a dream. One kills the sensation when one paints it. The work of an artist is the sum total of these failures, but there is also an incessant attitude to continue. Each painting is a step ladder that leads us to The Painting.”
