This work has not been recently restored. The canvas has a lining applied with wax to the reverse. There is a 2-inch horizontal paint loss in the large tree in the right side. There is another loss in the waterfall in the lower right and also in the base of a palm tree in the center of the work. In the upper left there are three losses that have been poorly restored. There is a loss in the lower right corner, but essentially the darker colors of the landscape are mostly undamaged. In the sky and mountains some very broad glazes have been applied by a restorer to eliminate a few small losses; two or three in the valley in the center left and a few others in the mountains in the upper center. Along the top of the blue sky there are a couple of other losses that have been disguised with this broad and over-indulgent glaze. Although the current restoration is broad and the wax lining is acidic, the actual condition is very good and the few isolated losses that exist are typical of works from this period.
