Minimes traces d'usure aux attaches de nerfs, et un mors habilement restauré au tome III. Les volumes ont été reteintés avec soin.
6 grandes gravures à pleine page dont une contenant le portrait de Fontenelle, gravé par Picart d'après Rigaud, 174 bandeaux et culs-de-lampe et 2 fleurons de titre par Bernard Picart (Cohen 407).
Splendide exemplaire en grand papier, relié en maroquin bleu pour "le banquier des rois" Samuel Bernard, à ses armes. Le protestant Samuel Bernard, après sa conversion au catholicisme, fut anobli par Louis XIV en 1699. Les roulettes au chasseur ainsi que les doubles rameaux dans les angles des caissons rappellent la façon des décors du doreur de Boyet.
