Condition
Overall in very good condition. The shade with approximately 15 cracks to the glass tiles dispersed throughout. The shade leading appears to have been stabilized in a few select areas, and with a few Dutchmen (added lead lines that are commonly used to stabilize cracks). The shade with surface soiling to the recessed folds of the glass and to the recessed contours of the shade leading. The rare Flower Pot base displays an exceptionally deep and rich russet brown and green patina. The patinated bronze surfaces with some occasional light surface scratches and abrasions, and light rubbing to the patina consistent with age and gentle use. With some minor traces of surface soiling to the recessed contours of the upper base decoration. The end terminals of the shade arms with minor surface rubbing due to continued surface contact with the shade over time. The base was originally designed to function as an oil lamp and was converted in the period to electricity. (The oil canister and base were fortunately not drilled at the time of the conversion, and the electrical cord extends from the bottom of the riser.) The sockets and paddle switches all appear to be period and undisturbed. The socket cluster with surface wear and soiling; one socket arm with some minor areas of patina loss. The drop finial appears to be from the period, and displays a closely corresponding patina to the base. A beautiful example of this rare pattern, displaying the most desirable shade and base pairing for the Geranium model. The shade displays an artistic and thoughtful glass selection distinguished by the varied hues of magenta articulating the geranium blossoms, rich cobalt blue lower register, and icy pale cobalt blue background glass.
