Condition
The canvas is unlined. The surface is in fair condition; here are some significant losses to the surface of the painting, notably along the left edge, the upper right corner and lower left corner. There were poor attempts at repainting the losses at the upper right and lower right corners that are visible to the naked eye. There is craquelure throughout and the stretcher bars are visible 2 inches inwards from all 4 edges. Under UV; there appears to be several generations of retouches, notably in a 3 by 5 inch area at the upper center, in the upper right and lower right corners, in the hay above the rabbit's head on the right, and along the edges of all the rabbit's bodies; however the original surface has been preserved and the painting should respond well to conservation.
