Condition
The canvas is lined. The surface is in generally good condition aside from some fine pressed craquelure and a somewhat heavy varnish. The lining has slightly flattened the painting. Under UV; a heavy masking varnish has been applied to the lower 4 inches of the painting some broadly retouched areas are slightly discernible through it. Inpainting is visible in the figure's face and hair.
