Thence by descent in the family;
By whom sold ("Property of a Private Collector, Newark, New Jersey") Sotheby's New York, January 21, 1982, lot 23;
Acquired from the above sale by the present owner.

Condition

The panel is uncradled. The panel is stable but appears to be slightly warped. The surface is in generally good condition aside from frame abrasion notably along right edge below the center; possible rubbing/losses to corners; light craquelure throughout. There are minor unobtrusive abrasions in the center above the head of figure with orange hat. Inspection under UV reveals retouches in the sky above the chimney, in the upper right corner, and small spots in the figure's to the right's dress.
