Catalogue Note
We are grateful to Fred G. Meijer of the Rijksbureau voor Kunsthistorische Documentatie, The Hague for confirming the attribution to van Thielen on the basis of photographs. The painting was probably originally the lower center portion of a cartouche still life, with the basket added at a later date.
