Condition
The painting is warmer in tone than the catalogue illustration The canvas has an old effective relining. The paint surface is clean, has bright colours and appears to the naked eye to be in good condition with the impasto still in evidence in the clouds. The upper right hand part of the sky has been quite extensively retouched and this is visible due to the discolouration of the retouchings. Inspection under UV light reveals some minor scattered retouchings as well as retouching to the upper edge from frame abrasion. Other than the somewhat clumsy retouching in the upper right, the painting is in good condition. Offered in a later painted gold composite frame in good condition.
