Description

  • Jean-Victor Bertin
  • A Landscape with two horsemen riding through a valley;A Landscape with a shepherd and his flock in front of a walled town
  • a pair, both oil on canvas, unlined

Condition

The paintings are brighter in tone and more luminous in colour than their catalogue illustrations would suggest. Both canvas appear to be unlined and their paint surfaces are well preserved with their texture intact. Minor retouching can be seen under a raking light in the mountain and rock faces of the first and in the lower left hand corner of the second, as is confirmed by ultrviolet inspection. Otherwise both appear to be in good fresh condiiton. Offered in matching gilt wood and plaster frames with very minor losses.
