Condition

STRUCTURE Both paintings are on board, both of which are in good condition and continue to provide a flat and stable support for the paintings. PAINT SURFACE Both paintings appear to be in very good condition, with no apparent damage or loss of paint. Both appear to have been cleaned and neither of them require any further restoration or conservation, and are ready for display. ULTRAVIOLET Examination under ultraviolet light reveals a small amount of very minor retouching in both paintings, primarily at the edges of the boards, to old frame abrasion. There is one small area of minor retouching in the sky, just above the horizon line in the second of the paintings (the lower of the two as illustrated in the catalogue). FRAME Both held in matching gilded neo-classical frames.
