STRUCTURE
The canvas has been lined.
PAINT SURFACE
The painting appears to be in good overall condition with no apparent damage or loss of paint. There is evidence of a discoloured varnish overall in keeping with the paintings age.
ULTRAVIOLET
Examination under ultraviolet light reveals evidence of very minor localised areas of scattered retouching to the background and upper left and lower right as well as areas of minor strengthening to the edges of the sitter's fur scarf. Ultraviolet examination also confirms the opacity of the aforementioned varnish and reveals the presence of a horizontal tear measuring approx.. 8 in. in the lower right which runs from the canvas edge to the lower centre almost exactly parallel to the bottom of the fictive print. Apart from this though the canvas appears to be in good overall condition.
FRAME
Held in a plain black wood painted frame.
