Description

- A woman at a balcony;A woman standing before a musical group
- the former signed lower left: L. Alenza
a pair, both oil on panel
Condition
Both paintings are more muted than their catalogue illustrations. They are both supported by single stable flat panels. The paint surfaces appear to be in good condition to the naked eye apart from some very minor losses, most noticeably in the localised abrasion to the panel edges caused by old ill-fitting frames. The colours remain strong behind a thick yellow varnish and both paintings could benefit from a light clean. There is evidence of an old diagonal abrasion in the sky beneath the varnish, as is visible in the catalogue illustration, and inspection under ultrviolet light reveals that this extends to the lower right. However it would appear that there has been no intervention to these pictures. Both remain in good overall condition and they are offered in matching painted wood and plaster frame with minor losses.
