  • oil on canvas

Provenance

Altrincham Collection, by the 1930s;
On long-term loan to the University of Bristol.

Condition

The canvas has been relined and the paint surface appears to be in good overall condition if a little flat in places. There also appears to be an area of repaired damaging in the lower centre measuring approx. 10 by 8 cm. in his right coat-tail. There appears to be an even varnish overall. Inspection under UV reveals an even somewhat yellowed varnish overall. Inspection under UV shows some very minor scattered retouching and confirms the presence of the aforementioned area of damage.Offered in a plain wooden frame.
