There is a ca. 5x6cm large area of loss to the paper and some later retouching in the lower right hand corner and scattered areas of loss to the lower part of the painting. A crease has gone through the paper across the middle part of the paper and there is an area of retouching below it. There are small scattered areas of loss and retouching to the upper part of the painting. The mount around the scroll shows foxing and is stained particularly in the lower left hand corner.
