riche décor "à la Bérain" alternant fond d'écaille rouge et laiton, ouvrant à trois tiroirs, les montants saillants terminés par des sabots en bronze doré ; ornementation de bronze doré ; (restaurations ; la lingotière refaite)

Condition

illustration is quite accurate. Good restored condition excepted very few lifts to the veneer. Brass engraving a little worn. Giltbronze regilt (handles probably replaced). Top rail redone. Architectural and early model.

Ce type de décor mélangeant arabesques, personnages, grotesques et rinceaux est directement inspiré des planches de l'ornemaniste Jean Bérain dont les récueils inspirèrent de nombreux ébénistes parisiens à la fin du XVIIe et au début du XVIIIe comme Nicolas Sageot et Noël Gérard (voir P. Grand, "Le mobilier Boulle et les ateliers de l'époque", L'Estampille, février 1993, pp. 48-70).
