Condition

The photograph is too yellow, the colour of the marble is lighter in reality. Minor chips to the edges of the drapery, with one small lack to the marble in the front of the drapery (circa 1 cm). Some veins and inclusions visible to the surface of the marble at several places. The marble pedestal of a later period with a few chips to the edges at several places consistent with age. Further research has given indications that the marble bust may be Roman, rather than Florentine, probably late 17th - early 18th Century and maybe be related to the sculptures in S. Giovanni di Laterano.
