en laine, à décor de fleurs polychromes et rinceaux feuillagés sur fond bleu nuit, dans un encadrement de bordures de fleurs ; (usures, bordures retissées probablement à la fin du XIXe siècle)

Condition
Illustration is too orange, colours are actually more faded.
As visible on the photograph the central part with wear in places
The borders have probably been redone at the end of 19th century.
Nevertheless beautiful exemple of Savonnerie early manner in mid 17th century with naturalistic representation of several kind of flowers.

Catalogue Note
Ce tapis a probablement été exécuté dans les ateliers du Louvre ou de Chaillot dans la seconde moitié du XVIIe siècle. Son décor ressemble à des pièces tissées dans ces ateliers, connues par des descriptions telle celle décrite dans l'inventaire de 1653 des collections du cardinal de Mazarin. Le décor pour ce type de tapis "Louis XIII" s'inspire des compositions florales en vogue aux Pays-Bas à cette époque.
