Catalogue Note

Coonan was a member of Montreal's Beaver Hall Group and was one of the first women artists invited to exhibit with the Group of Seven. She studied under William Brymner at the Art Association of Montreal and was a star pupil. Coonan greatly admired the work of James Wilson Morrice, whose style greatly influenced her.
