Catalogue Note
Mouvement was painted in 1963 in Paris, where Letendre worked after receiving a travelling grant from the Canada Council. After her flat, geometric and colourful paintings of the 1950's, she adopted the Automatiste's technique of thick gestural strokes of the palette knife to which she added her unique sense of explosive drama.
