the lid inset with an enamel plaque, Geneva, circa 1805,  painted with Venus weighing Cupid (Eros) against Psyche as a butterfly (spiritual love), the sides and base with engine-turned scroll and flower ornament on a finely-reeded ground, coloured gold garland borders, maker's mark I&G crowned
