ornées de portraits sur plaques émaillées encadrés de strass sur un fond ciselé en or coloré, la montre signée : Marchand fils A Paris, la chatelaine avec un poinçon de maître F&... effacé, poinçons de contrôle français et hollandais, à laquelle fut accrochée a posteriori plusieurs breloques dont la clé de la montre, un pendant en émail, une croix et un sceau à gousset en cornaline, l'empreinte en agathe sculptée d'un profil de femme



each inset with an enamel plaque painted with a lady and gentleman within translucent green enamel and paste ribbon borders, the watch with Roman numerals and outer arabic chapter ring, signed: Marchand fils A Paris, the chatelaine chased with swagged flower panels on a sablé ground, the reverse with rubbed makers' mark F & ..., later Frecnh and Dutch control marks, further hung with various breloques including the watch key, a jewelled and enamelled pendant, a jewelled cross and a carnelian fob seal, the agate matrix carved with a female profile

Provenance

Selon la tradition familiale, cette châtelaine fut crée à Genève pour le duc de Chartres, pere du futur roi Louis-Philippe, et son épouse née Marie Adelaïde de Bourbon Penthièvre vers 1780.

Condition

Would benefit from professional cleaning; some stones lacking on watch; some wear on watch and key; scratching on enamel panels.
