Frédéric Emile d'Erlanger (1831-1911) a été l'un des banquiers les plus en vue de Paris sous le Second Empire. Né à Francfort, il épousa d'abord Odette Lafitte, petite-fille du ministre des finances de l'empereur Napoléon III, dont il se sépara en 1862 puis l'américaine Marguerite Slidell dont il eut quatre enfants. Frédéric et sa femme firent construire à Paris dans le XVIe arrondissement un hôtel qui existe toujours, dans la rue qui porte son nom. Ils étaient également locataires de la fameuse villa Foscari, oeuvre de Palladio.
Frédéric Emile d'Erlanger (1831-1911) who was born in Frankfurt-am-Main, was one of the most admired Parisian bankers under the Second Empire. He married first Odette Laffite, grand-daughter of Emperor Napoleon III's minister of Finances, from whom he separated in 1862; and secondly the American Marguerite Slidell with whom he had four children. He and his wife had a palace built in the 16th arrondissement in the street which bears his name, it still exists today. They also lived in the famous villa Foscari, work of Andrea Palladio.
