Catalogue Note
Jules Wièse, né à Berlin en 1818 fut avec Froment-Meurice l'orfèvre le plus attaché au style néo-renaissance au XIXe siècle. Après avoir travaillé à Berlin chez Hossauer, orfèvre de la cour, il arriva à Paris vers 1838 et travailla peu de temps chez JV Morel avant d'entrer chez Froment-Meurice en 1839. En 1844, il ouvre son atelier mais en ne travaillant que pour Froment-Meurice. Il emploie jusqu'à vingt-cinq ouvriers. Il se retire en 1880 et meurt en 1890.
