Condition

It would appear that the original glass bottle of circa 1835 must have been broken and the cagework carefully removed and attached, probably around 1860-1880, to a new specially made glass bottle with gold collar and footrim. There are small solder marks where the cagework has been refitted and minor chips to enamel. The stopper has been squashed causing the bird to keel over slightly with enamel losses to tail and green mound. The chain has become detached from the collar. Despite these problems this is a charming and lively piece.
