Catalogue Note
***
This beaker of Hanseatic type can be found as well in Scandinavia, particuarly in the Norwegian town of Bergen, which like Bremen and Stade in Germany, was also until the second half of the 16th century a leading member of the Hanseatic league. The key of the Bremen town mark is distinguishable from Stade by the direction it faces and the angle it lies in the shield.
