Catalogue Note
***
The bowl may have been used for christenings by Scholtz von Schnudensee family, whose arms are repeated on the bowl. They appear with those of an unidentified family 1664, Bremer of Nassau and Hanover 1701, probably Stoltzenberg of Brunswick 1740, von Bülow of Saxony 1769 and Grote of Hanover 1798.
A modern website (http://www.tiste.de/unser_dorf/unser_dorf.php) records the family Schulte as owning the land around of Burgsittensen from around 1660-1880.
