STRUCTURE The canvas has been relined. PAINT SURFACE There are traces of discoloured varnish in the sky and areas of craquelure typical of a work of this age; otherwise the paint surface is sound. ULTRAVIOLET UV light reveals a few spots of retouching to the cloud, upper left and to frame abrasions along the upper edge. FRAME Under glass and held in a period frame in fair condition.
