Condition

Stuck down around the edges to the mount, but opened at the back. Left edge slightly creased from old hinging. A small area of light brown staining at the upper part of the left edge and some very light, isolated fox marks (barely visible). Otherwise appears clean and fresh.

Catalogue Note

James Byam Shaw noted that the numbering of this series of drawings runs at least to 102, but he only knew of sixty, of which fourteen are in the Museo Correr, Venice. He felt that the relation of some of the compositions to Giambattista's important altarpiece at Este would suggest the drawings can be dated after 1759.1
