Condition

Laid down on the Richardson mount. The sheet is somewhat foxed throughout and there are some very small ink stains in the lower centre. Some very slight losses to the centre of the lower edge. The chalk still strong.

Catalogue Note

Boscoli seems to have made several sheets of studies just of hands, such as this one, employing contrasting red and black chalks.  Another study of two hands crossed over was sold London, Sotheby's, 7 December 1978, lot 194, and is now in a private collection.
