Condition
There is a long tear going from the top left corner down towards the eye; there is a tear at top centre edge ; There are losses at the top right corner. There appears to be damage around bridge of the nose, but the paper seems solid. There is a thin patch at the bottom right corner. Old glue traces around all edges, verso. Stain at his right jaw and spot in hair above.

This very delicate study of a head is strongly reminiscent of the drawings of Bronzino, but no convincing connection or attribution has so far been proposed.
