Description
- Joos de Momper
- mountainous river landscape with a fortified town
- Pen and brown ink and watercolour, partly added by a later hand;
bears old attribution on mount: Mompert.
Provenance
John MacGowan (L.1496)
Condition
Unframed. Laid down on old mount. There is a tiny nick to the centre of the upper edge, and a very small loss to the lower left corner. Some creases in the paper from being laid down, especially at the right hand side. The ink is sunk in parts, and the paper is overall rather yellowed, although this is also disguised by the watercolour.
