Description
- Charles Ginner, A.R.A.
- On the Marne
- oil on canvas laid down to board
- 22 by 32.5cm.; 8¾ by 12¾in.
Condition
The canvas has been stuck down and the board beneath is visible to the upper and lower edges; this could be resolved by reframing. There are artist's pinholes to all four corners, although these were probably made during the creation of the work. There is paint loss to the corners, the upper, lower and right edges. there are also some flecks of chipped paint across the central band of the work. There are some areas of fine craquelure to the work. The surface of the work is dirty and would benefit from a professional clean. Presented in a grey wooden frame. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals no evidence of retouching.
