Description

- 18.1 cm
of demilune from, painted with prunus and peony between colorful diaper-patterned bands, the pierced upper surface painted with small pink flowerheads on a blue 'cracked ice' ground within a border of pink lotus petals. Restored. Together with a Chinese Export famille-rose chamberstick, circa 1780, painted with flowers within a spearhead border around the rim. 2 pieces.
Condition
The entire rim of the bought pot is covered by old discolored restoration that is probably concealing numerous small chips and/or haircracks and/or breaks - it is not possible to fully determine the extent of the damage beneath the spray. The restoration has yellowed with age and is visible in the catalogue illustration; the piece would benefit from removal of the old restoration and a modern re-restoration.
The chamberstick has some wear to the gilding but is in otherwise generally good condition.
