- of cylindrical form, carved in relief with Bacchanalian putti surrounding a wine barrel, on four grotesque mask supports, the handle as a nymph emerging from acanthus, the hinged lid with bands of ornament below a rounded button, lacking finial

Condition
Lacking finial as described in text; visible rim of old glue around base rim, so needs professional removal and re-adjustment. Because of regluing, the tankard does not rest correctly on all four supports. One petal behing a grotesqu on foot rim cracked. Narrow filets of lid rims (around 5cm below and 9cm above) lacking; two petals of frrieze around lid button chipped at rim. Quality of carving excellent.
