- cylindrical, with applied band below engraved scrolling foliage, pomegranate and flowers, the cast and chased foot incorporating masks and strapwork on matting, three ball and bell feet, the underside inset with an Italian Testone of Pier Lucas Fieschi, Messerano mint, circa 1521-1528

La ville italienne de Messerano fut sous l'égide de la famille des Fieschi du XIVe siècle au XIXe siècle. L'atelier monétaire y a frappé ses premières pièces sous la protection de Pier Lucas Fieschi et de son frère Ludovico II au début du XVIe siècle.
