L'aiguière fut rapportée d'Allemagne au Portugal en 1836, à l'occasion du mariage de Ferdinand of Saxe-Coburg et Gotha avec Maria II Reine du Portugal. Il régna avec elle en tant que prince consort, titre qu'il reçut en 1837 après la naissance de leur fils et héritier du trône Pedro I. La Reine Maria II avait été mariée deux fois auparavant, la première fois à sept ans à son oncle Miguel, et la deuxième fois à Auguste, Duc de Leuchtenberg et petit-fils de l'Impératrice Joséphine de Beauharnais

Dent at the front, tiny hole in the foot where the French control mark has punctured metal, hinge of cover slighlty loose, gilding may have been refreshes, but overall in good condtion, an interesting object with lively chasing
