  • fiddle thread pattern, armorial engraved below Marquis's coronet, comprising:
    - 21 table spoons
    - 21 table forks
    - 2 serving spoons

Condition

In overall very good condition, all pieces engraved wil the same coat-of-arms. By JC Zarhrt, Strasbourg: - 2 serving spoons, one 1771, the other 1780. - 10 forks and 10 spoons, 1771 - 1 fork and 2 spoons, 1773 - 5 forks and 3 spoons, 1774 By the Fritz widow: - 5 forks and 5 spoons, 1785 - 1 spoon, 1789 (for this one, maker's mark almost illegible) Very nice quality of engraving, rare set.

Catalogue Note

Les armes sont celles de la famille Zorn von Bulach, d'Alsace.

Les fourchettes et cuillères portant le poinçon de la veuve Fritz sont insculpées du poinçon de date K. Jean-Frédéric Zahrt est mort en 1780, selon l'ouvrage Deux siècles d'Orfèvrerie à Strasbourg, 2004, (le livre antérieur, Orfèvrerie de Strasbourg, Kugel, 1964, notait qu'il était mort en 1771). La dernière lettre K selon ce dernier ouvrage, correspond à  1761. A cette époque, Madame Fritz n'était pas veuve. Par conséquent, selon toute probabilité, cette lettre K est pour 1785, bien que l'ouvrage en question stipule qu'en 1784 la dernière lettre utilisée est la lettre I.
