Catalogue Note

inscription:
On the body of the ewer:

Amina Khanim

'
Lady/Princess Amina'

Amina (d.1864) was the daughter of Ismail Pasha b. Ibrahim, Khedive of Egypt from 1863 until 1879, and since the ewer is stamped with the mark of the Khedival court of Egypt, we can surmise that the basin and ewer were both made for her as gifts from the court of Abdulmecid, sultan of the Ottoman Empire from 1839-1861.
