Catalogue Note

The flamboyant form and decoration of this ewer are characteristic of a group of ewers produced for wealthy Ottoman patrons from the eighteenth century onwards. The rococo themes of the designs employed are evidence of the rising regard for European decorative arts in the upper echelons of Ottoman society during this century.
