of domed form with faceted bud spike, noseguard and two plume holders with palmette terminals, decorated all over with gold overlay with a lattice of flowering plants and foliate motifs, rim with inscriptions

A similar seventeenth-century helmet is in the Museo Stibbert, Florence, illustrated in Eredita dell'Islam Arte Islamica en Italia, Silvana Editoriale, Giovanni Curatola 1993, p.434 and wrongly attributed to Persia. The distinctive Indian diaper pattern was a decorative device that was used in multiple mediums during the reign of Shah Jahan.
